"Naples Green" Fig
This variety comes from my dear friends and neighbors Marcos and Barbara.
The Bifera tree has a small to medium growth habit.
The fruit has light-green to yellowish-green translucent very thin, sweet skin.
Inside, the pulp is pink to dark-red, depending on the ripeness and very sweet taste with rich figgie underlying aroma.
..."I'm from Bari, which is on Adriatic side of Italy, of Apulia region" said Marcos proudly... "These green figs are from Naples, which is on Tyrrhenian Sea at East side of Mediterranean. They were brought to Los Angeles, Glendale 60+ years ago by Italian immigrants" he added, as he was showing me the fig setup in his garden.
..."Next time I'll take you to my father's fig trees, from Bari, he brought them 60+ years ago with him to US, (Glendale). There are greens and blacks" he added.
With many thanks,
I am honored for being trusted to own and propagate this tightly guarded variety that's been in their family for a very long time.
